You’ve probably heard lines like:
👉 “Your workout is our warm-up!”
👉 “Grip it and rip it!”
👉 “We don’t need machines; we are machines!”
I’ve heard them all too (and yeah, I’ve probably yelled a few myself back in the day 😅). They sound hardcore, but here’s the truth: training doesn’t always have to feel like crawling out of the deep, dark “pain cave.”
If there is one thing that I have learned is that life is already heavy. Between work, kids, family, the stress of the world, and a million other things, sometimes the last thing you need is another beatdown. Training is supposed to build you up — not leave you wrecked.
And guess what? Going at 50% still counts. Just doing a warm-up and calling it a day still counts. Moving at all is a win, because every bit you do is a deposit into your “fitness bank account.”
You’re not lazy if you feel unmotivated right now — you’re human. I own a gym, and even I hit days where I don’t want to train. You’re not alone.
So instead of obsessing over big numbers or PRs, reframe it:
✅ Move for your headspace
✅ Move for your energy
✅ Move for your time with friends or family
Because movement is the win.
Here are some simple ways to keep it rolling:
- Train earlier in the day. Willpower fades as the hours pass — knock it out before life piles on.
- Pick easier workouts. A walk counts. A handful of push-ups and sit-ups counts. If you can make it fun, it’ll stick.
- Try a 12-minute EMOM:
- Min 1: Squats
- Min 2: Push-ups
- Min 3: Lunges
- Min 4: Plank (repeat 3 rounds)
- Do it with someone. Whether it’s a partner at home, a friend outside, or a Zoom session — having someone else there keeps you moving.
At the end of the day, don’t beat yourself up. There’s already enough stress in the world. Just do something. And if you don’t? Cool — tomorrow’s another chance.
Keep moving,
Casey
